The tourists may find the telecommunication tower offering a view to the countryside since 2006 on the Pepř (Pepper) hill about 1 km from a small town of Jílové u Prahy. It is a Vodafone and T-Mobile construction with a view platform.
The plans for building the view tower may be traced to 1927 when Mr. Fr.Toníček, deputy chairman of the Association of the natives and friends of Jílové made a proposal of a stony view tower with the height of 21 m. The floor of the tower was to be 15 m above the ground and there was to be annexed an additional building for guards and tourists. However, the purpose was never realized.
The today’s view tower was built exactly after 80 years. In the beginning there was an initiative of the Oskar Mobil to build a base station on the Mount Pepř. The town representatives agreed but only under the condition that a public accessible view platform would be a part of the transmitter. The construction was built by a Pilsen company GES in the autumn 2006. The total height of the building is 30,7 m. The view ambit is located in the height of 18 m and accessible after ascending of 91 stairs. The view tower was approved in Ocotober 2007 and made accessible for the public.
