The telecommunication tower, which also offers a view of the countryside, can be found since the end of 2006 on Pepř Hill (449 m) about 1 km south of Jílové u Prahy. It is a Vodafone and T-Mobile building with a viewing platform.
Plans for the construction of a lookout tower at Jílový date back to 1927, when the vice-chairman of the Society of Natives and Friends of Jílový, Mr. F. Troníček, drew up a proposal for a 21-metre high stone lookout structure. The floor of the lookout was to be 15 metres above the ground and an annex for guards and tourists was to be attached to the lookout tower. However, the plan was never realized.
Today's lookout tower was built exactly 80 years later. At the beginning of it all was the initiative of the Oskar Mobil company to build its base station on Pepř. City officials agreed, but only on the condition that the tower would include a publicly accessible viewing platform. The structure was built by the Pilsen company GES in the autumn of 2006. The total height of the structure is 30.7 metres. The viewing platform is located at a height of 18 metres and 91 steps lead to it. The lookout tower was approved and opened to the public in October 2007.
