One smaller and one larger pond are located approximately 300 m to the south of the village of Studený. The priority for this location is to protect threatened fenland ecosystems with the presence of protected fauna and flora species, mainly the rich population of Calla Palustris.
The area forms a shallow valley with a rivulet feeding both ponds. The area is based on biotic paragneiss and moldanubicum. The soil is of a water logged gley-type.
Banks of the larger pond are not covered with trees and shrubs which allowed the expansion of Calla Palustris. The upper pond is a host to rich cover of River Horsetail. The ponds are surrounded by water logged meadows - occasionally of a peaty type - with the presence of Dactylorchis Majalis and other precious species of plants.
Damsel Fly Coenagrion Hastulatum can be found in the area. Also the amphibians Spotted Salamander and Common Frog live in the ponds. The Alder woodland covers only a section of the area.
The smaller pond is used as a fish farm with a mixed fish community. The meadows are mowed occasionally. The meadow in the north is adjacent to ploughed farm land which was responsible for the eutrophisation of the meadow. It is necessary to isolate the meadow and the farm land with a hedge of shrubs and trees.
