Haliř adit

254 01 Pohoří

Mining of the local adit from the valley of the Turyňský brook took place in 1949-1950 as part of the exploration of the entire Jílové gold-bearing district. At the same time, an old adit mined eastwards from the valley of the Chotouňský brook was opened in the western part of Halíř. The mining of the old adit did not yield any interesting results. The new Haliri adit, which opened up the entire vein zone with its length of about 270 m, undercut extensive surface remains, possibly of medieval workings.

The first mention of Halíří appears in Hájek's chronicle from the 16th century, where the name of the Haléřek mine appears (1079), but the local gold was already mined during the Celtic times, when it was mined on the right-side tributaries of the Sázava River (Chotouňský and Turyňský potok).

According to historians, there were two important stages of mining here, namely the middle of the 14th century and the end of the 16th century. The last mining activity in the area was the exploration of the Haliř vein zone, when the Old Haliř adit was opened and the New Haliř adit was dug in 1948-1951.

The New Halira Adit was driven between 1948 and 1951 to undercut the extensive surface remains of the old workings. It was to identify the inferred zone of ore veins. It is the newest mining work at Halíri. The adit was driven to the NW and a length of 258 metres (measured from the mouth of the adit) was achieved. Four trenches were made perpendicular to the seams (the total length including the trenches is 369 metres). The inclination of the layers in the adit is initially 40° to 50° to the NE, the rocks form benches of alternating thickness (several dm to 1 m), with plate-like separation according to the layers. A dislocated inclined surface (dipping to the SW) was observed within 10 m of the mouth of the adit, to which the ore vein is further bound and from which the adit was mined. The profile of the adit is therefore in the shape of the letter 'A', where the left side is a dislocation 'head' inclined 50° to the SW (left), while the right side of the ceiling is formed by a layered surface inclined 45° to the NE.
